Road Win Lifts Hudsonville to 2-1 Lead in R1
|
Despite a great performance by Santa Fe right fielder George Cook, the Hudsonville Flanderses defeated the Revolvers by the score of 3-1 at Ballpark of Day Valley today. Cook went 3-5 with a home run and a double to earn player of the game honors, but could not prevent the Flanderses from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Hudsonville now leads the 3L R Championship 2-1.
Tied up with the Revolvers in the top of the fifth inning, the Flanderses got a boost from third baseman Roberts Hamhock. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Hamhock saw a first pitch cutter from Dermott Venner and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Hudsonville on top, 1-0.
"It was a good effort all around," said Hamhock.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Rubén Vázquez for Hudsonville and Abdul-Salam Omar for Santa Fe.
