The Valley Blue Sox moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the visiting Gwinnett County Black Cats at The Heron Refuge by a score of 5-1. Blue Sox left-hander Anthony Hood was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Blue Sox a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 PL A Championship.

Hood was in the zone all game. He frustrated Gwinnett County hitters while giving the Blue Sox 7.2 innings of quality work. Hood threw 94 pitches, allowing 3 hits and getting 6 punchouts.

"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Hood.

The next game is scheduled for Monday, September 12th, 2033 at Pipers Ballpark. Slated to start are Jessie Young for the Valley Blue Sox and Melvin Turner for the the Gwinnett County Black Cats.
