Road Win Lifts Germantown to 1-0 Lead in R1
|
The Germantown Uruguayans faced a tough opponent in Gibtown Elephants right fielder Luis Romero, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the SL R Championship, which they now lead 1-0. The Uruguayans won 6-4 at Wrigley Field, despite the efforts of Romero, who was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and was named player of the game.
It could have been a different outcome for Germantown, had it not been for Conor Culver, the 21-year old center fielder . Culver contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Germantown up, 4-1.
Elephants manager did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the SL R Championship."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Gibsonton. The scheduled starters for the game are Suhaila Zainuddin for Germantown and David Fuentes for Gibtown.
