The Sheridan Deer stymied the Amarillo Warheads, 7-1, at Ballpark of Henderson. Chaim Werkman, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for Sheridan. Hsin-ta Yin got credit for the win, improving to 7-2. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 5.2 innings. Juan Alemán got the save, the 1st for him this season.
One of the key players for the Deer was second baseman Shigeaki Samurakami, who drilled a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning. For the game, Samurakami was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk.
"We did a lot of things right," said Samurakami.
Sheridan goes to 42-38, Amarillo to 42-38.
