Fire Curb Baby Lakers, 8-4
|
It was a fun time at Lawmen Ballpark, where the Bompton Baby Lakers and Franklin Fire tangled.
The Franklin Fire beat the Bompton Baby Lakers, 8-4, at Lawmen Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of first baseman Kent Maxwell, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Donnie Rawling was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 5 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts.
Maxwell contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Franklin in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Maxwell took a curveball from Alois Erstweiler and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Fire to leap in front, 4-2.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager said.
Franklin, at 37-40, occupies 8th place in the Menard's R.
