Snowpeople Win at Greenport, 7-2
|
Greenport got a terrific performance from pitcher Patrick Furzer, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople. Ellesmere Island won the Ballpark of Robbins contest, 7-2. Furzer was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings of shutout ball. Ellesmere Island reliever George Kipcak picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Gilberto Guzmán was saddled with the loss. Ellesmere Island, at 45-45, occupies 4th place in the Silver R.
Ellesmere Island took the lead in the top of the sixth. With two out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Omer van de Linde stroked a 2-run single to make it 2-0, Snowpeople.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," van de Linde said after the game.
