Gibtown starter Jonathan Lentz had a strong outing against the Newcastle Mermen at Wrigley Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-2 win. Lentz got the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. Lentz allowed 2 earned runs. Paco Garza, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.
Daniel Brewer aided the Gibtown cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop was 2-4 with a double.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Brewer said.
The Elephants own a robust 64-23 mark.
