Canucks Nip U-21, 2-1
|
The Moose Jaw Canucks faced a tough opponent in Athletic Club KC pitcher Jorge Moreno, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Elkhorn City by a final score of 2-1. Moreno went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Billy Threepwood got the save, his 3rd in 4 chances. Even with the win, the Canucks have a dismal 30-56 record.
The Canucks got a big at-bat from shortstop Bernardo Rodríguez. For the game, Rodríguez was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Moose Jaw a 2-0 lead.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Canucks manager Wynn Burton. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
