Elephants Reel Off Another Win
|
Gibtown pitcher Said Akimi did his part in helping his team beat the Moose Jaw Canucks, 9-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The first-place Elephants have won 6 consecutive games.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Elephants sent teenager Víctor Alfonso to the plate against Canucks hurler Seppe Coussement. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 0-2 fastball to score 3.
"We maximized our offense today," said Gibtown skipper . "That makes everyone's life easier."
