Octopi Win Again, Extend Streak to 12
|
Fort Knox got a terrific game from second baseman Eibe Schmidt. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Ogallala, 9-4. Schmidt was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 4-4 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Venceslau Martelo got the win, improving to 2-0. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 13 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Ogallala has run its win streak to 12 in a row.
Early in the game, second baseman Milojica Kordic had a run-scoring single for Ogallala. It was his 109th hit of the season and put the Octopi on top, 2-1.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Kordic.
