Beavers Solve Submarinos, 6-4

The Ballard Beavers beat the Amarillo Submarinos, 6-4, at Field of the Sunchasers. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman En-lai Lung, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs. The winner was Gregorio Garza, who threw 94 pitches over 5.2 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits. Steve Barnett earned the save, his 6th.
Carlo Manlulu went 2 for 3 with 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for Ballard. The 21-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Elliot Rickard. It was his 14th RBI of the season.
"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Manlulu told the Ballard Herald. "You win just by scoring more runs."
The Beavers' win now puts them at 16-20.
