Snowpeople Win Again, Extend Streak to 7
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople overcame a good performance by Staten Island center fielder Ramiro Palmeiro to knock off Staten Island, 8-7, at Corpus Christi Grounds. Palmeiro went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Yong-oon Cho got credit for the win, improving to 4-0. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 1.2 innings. The winning streak has now reached 7 games for Ellesmere Island.
Basava Puri's at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning was a big one for Ellesmere Island. Coming to bat with two out, a runner on 3rd and Ellesmere Island leading 7-4, the left fielder reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Puri said.
