Victory Pushes Snowpeople Record to 18-18
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople got a strong performance from pitcher Ramón Perales, who stymied the Union City offense en route to a 4-2 win at Corpus Christi Grounds. In 6 innings, Perales surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. John Fain closed the game out for Ellesmere Island, earning his 5th save.
The Snowpeople got a big at-bat from first baseman César Rivera. For the game, Rivera went 1-3, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 35th hit of the season gave Ellesmere Island a 2-1 lead.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Rivera said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Snowpeople bumped their record to 18-18 with this latest triumph.
