Hillers Get Road Win, 2-1
|
Union City beat Moose Jaw on the strength of starter Pedro Vázquez's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Vázquez, now 1-2. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Dennis Wion picked up the save, his 1st.
In the top of the sixth inning, first baseman Ken Barger came through big-time for the Hillers. With Union City leading 1-0, he belted a solo home run.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Vázquez. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
Union City is now 16-13.
