Uruguayans Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Hillers
|
With designated hitter Felipe Dávila leading the charge, the Germantown Uruguayans defeated the Union City Hillers, 7-5, at Ballpark of Albuquerque. Dávila, who is tied for 5th in the SR in hits with 31, went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Dong-hua Hao, who threw 111 pitches over 8 innings. The right-hander was charged with 5 runs on 9 hits. The Hillers, now 13-10, have lost 4 in a row.
Had Bill Richmond not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Richmond hit a 2-run single. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Uruguayans.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Richmond.
