Elephants Clip Snowpeople in Tight Contest
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Arnie Taylor, the Gibtown Elephants defeated the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 4-2. Taylor went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Elephants. Gibtown reliever Paco Garza was the winner. His record is now 2-2. John Fain took the loss. The Elephants, now 12-6, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Taylor had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the ninth. On a 3-1 fastball from John Fain, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Elephants a 4-2 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Taylor.
Taylor said this kind of win gives the team "a buzz."
