Ballpark of Elkhorn City was the site of a tense game between the Newcastle Mermen and Athletic Club KC U-21.
The Athletic Club KC U-21 took Newcastle pitcher Kini Grinter's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ballpark of Elkhorn City. The final score had Athletic Club KC getting past the Mermen, 3-2. Grinter went 6 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, striking out 2. The Mermen fall to 6-11 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2033 season.
Rafael Cortéz, who is tied for 6th in the SR in doubles with 5, aided the Athletic Club KC cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 4 with a double.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Cortéz said.
