The Memphis Music picked up a win at Mammoths Ballpark, knocking off the Valley View Cougars, 2-1. Starting pitcher Vicente Mota, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Brant Mielke was credited with the save for Memphis, his 2nd of the season. Memphis has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
Evan Meertens drove in one run for Memphis. The 21-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ian Dobson. It was his 18th RBI of the season.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Valley View manager Reggie Adams. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
