The exploits of first baseman Lauren Hilfiker, who is tied for 5th in the PR with a .951 OPS, helped the Ogallala Octopi defeat the Winter Haven Sun Sox, 8-1. Hilfiker slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The Sun Sox, now 19-16, have lost 6 straight.

A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the seventh inning when the Octopi sent teenager Alejandro Cantú to the plate against Sun Sox hurler Markus Martin. With runners on 1st and 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a double off a 1-0 cutter to score 2.
