Hotspur Academy Pull Off Thrilling Win in Extras
|
Ballpark of Fresno was the site of a competitive game between the San Diego Clippers and Phoenix Hotspur Academy.
The Phoenix Hotspur Academy wiggled past the San Diego Clippers, 4-3, at Ballpark of Fresno. Phoenix pitcher Francisco Medine earned player of the game honors. Phoenix reliever Phat Tra picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-1. Miguel Rodríguez was collared with the loss.
Late in the game, right fielder Hal Larson had a big at-bat for Phoenix. In the bottom of the 16th, he hit a run-scoring single off Miguel Rodríguez. The play gave the Hotspur Academy a 4-3 lead.
"It was terrific getting this win," Medine said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
The Hotspur Academy, at 16-18, have now won 5 straight.
