Shockers Edge Past Centennial, 5-4

With third baseman Frans Boone leading the charge, the Surprise Shockers defeated the Fort Knox Centennial, 5-4, at Ballpark of Baxter. Boone, who is tied for 10th in the PR in bases on balls with 8, went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times. Surprise reliever Nathan Bernard picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-1. Jon Wolfe was collared with the loss. Surprise, at 13-8, occupies third place in the Premier R.
Tony Sánchez had the most critical at-bat for Surprise. With one in the top of the ninth inning, Sánchez hit a 1-2 slider from Jon Wolfe for a run-scoring single. It put Surprise in front, 5-4.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Surprise manager Eric Henley.
