The San Diego Clippers topped the Valley View Cougars, 8-7, with youngster Zhen-bang Kwan playing a key role. Kwan went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Clippers in the win. San Diego reliever Nate Jones was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Ronald Hall took the loss for Valley View. The loss drops Valley View to 2-4.
Cleveland Mortimer hit a run-scoring triple off Ronald Hall in the bottom of the tenth, which put the Clippers in front, 8-7. Mortimer had 2 singles, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 3 for 6.
