|
The San Diego Clippers picked up a win at Mean Green Ballpark, knocking off the Surprise Shockers, 6-4. On the mound for San Diego was right-hander Ivan Garayev, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 8.1 innings, Garayev surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. The win gives the Clippers a record of 2-1.
David Sheehan found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Surprise hurler Ed Mowbray, the 20-year-old right fielder drew a walk, driving in 1 run. His 1st walk of the season put the Clippers on top, 3-2.
