Late Rally by Shockers Secures Win
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the San Diego Clippers home opener. Paul Zucarelli started for the home team against Carlos López for the Surprise Shockers. The Clippers were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 3-0, Surprise. Paul Zucarelli was named player of the game. Surprise starter Carlos López was credited with the win after throwing 116 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Ed Mowbray closed the game out for Surprise, earning his 1st save.

The Shockers got a big at-bat from shortstop Esteban León. For the game, León went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the ninth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Surprise a 3-0 lead.
