Fans of the Ogallala Octopi who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Ogallala win over the visiting Ladue Rams, 11-2. Ezra Peterson started for the home team against Brian Guilbert. Lauren Hilfiker earned the coveted player of the game honors. Ogallala starter Ezra Peterson was credited with the win after throwing 100 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.

Hilfiker had a key at-bat for Ogallala early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and gave Ogallala an early 4-0 lead.

"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," Hilfiker told the Ogallala Today.
