Blaze Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Tula
The Chicago Tula got a superb performance from pitcher Tex Fountas. Still, it wasn't enough to beat South Beach. The Blaze won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Fountas was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. South Beach reliever Ingo Abresch picked up the win, upping his record to 4-7. Alfred Osuch was saddled with the loss. South Beach is now 44-37.

Had Noah Martone not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Martone hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Blaze.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Martone said.
