Gwinnett County got a terrific game from second baseman Curt Taylor. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Galesburg, 5-4. Taylor was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jason Poulter was the winner. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. Branlyn Jaraba was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 11 save opportunities.

Nestor Tantoco aided the Galesburg cause with a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth. For the game, the catcher drove in one run.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Tantoco said after the game.
