The Mancelona Torch topped the Niagara Falls Expos, 7-4, with youngster Marcus Shill playing a key role. Shill went 2-4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Torch in the win. The save was credited to Ken Briggs, his 2nd. Mancelona is now 26-69, Niagara Falls 29-66.
One of the key players for the Torch was right fielder Jesús Encarnación, who drilled a 2-run triple in the top of the fifth inning. For the game, Encarnación was 1 for 3 with a triple and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Shill.
