River Rats Prevail, 2-1, Over Washington
|
The Columbia River Rats and Washington Generals played a tight game at Columbia Stadium, with the hosts claiming the hard-fought win.
The Columbia River Rats topped the Washington Generals, 2-1, in USSL Single A action at Columbia Stadium. The player of the game was Columbia pitcher and Carteret, New Jersey native Pat Inman. Kit Scheetz, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 30th save.
Columbia grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases empty, Johnny Carter delivered a solo home run, to make it 2-1 in favor of the River Rats.
"We were in it," said Washington manager Jacob Curtis. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The River Rats improved to 54-34.
