Maskell Throws 5-Hitter En Route to 3-2 Torch Win
|
The Mancelona Torch got a strong performance from pitcher Rhys Maskell, who stymied the Idaho Falls offense en route to a 3-2 win at Torch Field. Even with the win, the Torch have a dismal 20-56 record.
Maskell was in the zone all game. He frustrated Idaho Falls hitters while giving the Torch 9 innings of quality work. Maskell threw 138 pitches, allowing 5 hits and getting 12 punchouts.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Torch manager Taylor Whitney. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
