Generals Stay Hot, Beat Dragonblood
|
The Yellowknife Dragonblood got a superb performance from pitcher Van Lapointe. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Washington. The Generals won the game, 8-3. In spite of the loss, Lapointe was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Washington reliever Yeijiro Sakei was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Van Lapointe took the loss for Yellowknife. The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Generals.
Had Fernando Acevedo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Acevedo hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Generals.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Jacob Curtis said.
