The Idaho Falls Chukars relied on the hitting of designated hitter Corey Hines to stop the Mancelona Torch, 6-5. For the game, Hines was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Idaho Falls reliever Chia-kang Xiao picked up the win, bumping his record to 6-1. Tomás Mata was collared with the loss. Today's win puts Idaho Falls at 14-23, while Mancelona falls to 10-27.
Hines contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Idaho Falls in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Hines took a fastball from Tomás Mata and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Chukars to leap in front, 4-1.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Hines told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
