River Rats Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Jets
|
The Columbia River Rats bested the Kennesaw Jets by a score of 4-2, with center fielder Joaquín Lara getting the main credit. On the day, Lara went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the River Rats. Columbia reliever Francisco Santos picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Júlio Enríquez was saddled with the loss. Columbia, at 22-13, sits in third place in the Silver A.
Lara had a game-changing double in the bottom of the eighth. On a 0-2 cutter from Júlio Enríquez, he banged a 2-run double to left-center, giving the River Rats a 4-2 lead. It was the 10th double of the year for Lara.
"I like what I saw today," said Columbia manager Greg Keys, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
