The Plainsmen faced a stiff challenge from Mancelona pitcher Rhys Maskell, but persevered to claim a win at Torch Field. The final score was 2-1. Maskell went 9 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Morton Steele earned the save for Nebraska, his 2nd of the year. The Plainsmen now have a record of 8-12 with the win over Mancelona.
Zhong-yan Zha drove in 2 runs for Nebraska. The 21-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Rhys Maskell. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Zha told the Nebraska Observer.
