River Rats Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Expos
|
Waterfall Park was the site of a competitive game between the Niagara Falls Expos and Columbia River Rats.
Niagara Falls pitcher Miguel Longoria gave the River Rats all they could handle, but in the end, Columbia left Waterfall Park with a 3-1 win. Longoria allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits over 6 innings. Columbia reliever Francisco Santos picked up the win to move to 1-0. Yen-ti Xiang suffered the loss.
Had Shane Seim not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Seim hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the River Rats.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Seim. "And not try to do too much."
Niagara Falls, at 4-11, is off to a poor start in 2033.
