Late Rally by Torch Secures Win
Crowds lined up early in front of The Big Teepee, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2033 USSL Single A season. On the mound was Rhys Maskell for the visiting Mancelona Torch and Robert Smalls for the hometown Connetquot Chiefs. In a spirited contest, the Torch pulled out the win, defeating the Chiefs by the score of 6-5. Earning player of the game honors was Dave Norton. Chris Stambaugh closed the game out for Mancelona, earning his 1st save.

The Torch got a big at-bat from center fielder Jur Prokop. For the game, Prokop went 1 for 5 with a double. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Mancelona a 6-5 lead.

"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Prokop told the Mancelona Today.
