In a low-scoring clash between Northville and Mercer Island, pitcher Alberto Álvarez was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Northville in the 3-2 win. Northville now sits in third place in the Premier AA at 49-41.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 12th inning, when Northville center fielder Gilberto Ocasio, facing Luis Oropeza, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Eclipse the 3-2 win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Álvarez told the Northville Times.
