Minnesota Loons starter Ángel Romero turned in an exceptional performance against the Phoenix Hotspur Youth at Grenadiers Ballpark, resulting in a Minnesota win, 4-2. Romero, now 1-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 2 earned runs. Quan Shiu got credit for the save for Minnesota. It was his 8th of the year.

Had Jimmy Fick not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Fick hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Loons.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Minnesota skipper Leo Sargent.

With the victory, the Loons record now stands at 41-46.
