Youth Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Loons
|
Phoenix Hotspur Youth starter Ismael Lara was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Minnesota Loons, 4-2. Phoenix Hotspur reliever Jason MacDonald picked up the win, bumping his record to 8-4. Quan Shiu was collared with the loss. Phoenix Hotspur is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Carlos Rodríguez was the walk-off hero for Phoenix Hotspur. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Youth first baseman hit a dramatic 2-run home run to send the teams home.
Minnesota manager Leo Sargent said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
