Continentals Edge Past Silver Sox, 3-2
|
The Chesapeake Continentals did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Reno Silver Sox at Tennille Grounds. Nobody did more than pitcher Ren-qing Weng, who captured player of the game honors. Chesapeake reliever Cedric Zuercher was the winner. His record is now 5-2. The losing pitcher was Jim Gunther. Keith Johnson got credit for the save for Chesapeake. It was his 12th of the year.
Dani Durán made it 3-2 in favor of Chesapeake when he delivered a solo home run. It came with one out in the top of the eighth. The Continentals went on to win.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Weng said.
Chesapeake currently is in first place in the Premier AA at 51-34.
