Victory Pushes Silver Sox Record to 42-37
|
The Reno Silver Sox powered past the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 8-3, at Tennille Grounds. George Albaugh was 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs, to lead the charge. Dale Snider, the winner, improved to 2-0. He held the Screaming Eagles to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 4. Bob Christison was credited with the save for Reno, his 13th of the season.
Daniel Bertrand went 1-4 with a triple and a walk for Reno. In the bottom of the third, with the teams deadlocked, 0-0, Bertrand delivered for the Silver Sox. His run-scoring walk put Reno on top, 1-0.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Emílio Sáenz said.
With the win, Reno has a record of 42-37. Mercer Island falls to 42-37.
