Eclipse Sneak Past Continentals, 5-4
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Northville Eclipse eventually prevailed at Old-Timers Park.
Northville center fielder Gilberto Ocasio was a significant contributor in his team's 5-4 triumph over the Chesapeake Continentals. He belted 2 home runs for Northville. Kyu-cheol P'yo got credit for the win, improving to 2-8. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Tumas Wenzu came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Chesapeake pitcher Randy Carr, he hit a 1-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Northville on top, 5-4.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Wenzu said.
The Eclipse now have a mark of 43-36.
