Late Rally by Silver Sox Seals 4th Straight Win
|
The Northville Eclipse got a superb performance from pitcher Alberto Álvarez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Reno. The Silver Sox won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Álvarez was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. Reno reliever Aaron Houchens picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Kyu-cheol P'yo was saddled with the loss. The save was credited to Bob Christison, his 12th.
Reno used the timely hitting of Jong-beom Chang to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Silver Sox on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
In postgame remarks, Chang said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
Reno has now won 4 straight.
