Phoenix Hotspur got a strong outing from Larry Souder as the Youth defeated the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 3-2, at Grenadiers Ballpark. Phoenix Hotspur reliever Jason MacDonald picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Unto Leino absorbed the loss. Phoenix Hotspur is now 21-37, Mercer Island 29-29.

Bill Erickson tagged a home run off Unto Leino in the bottom of the ninth. His solo blast put the Youth on top, 3-2. In all, Erickson had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Erickson told the Phoenix Hotspur Chronicle. "You win just by scoring more runs."
