Continentals Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Screaming Eagles

It was a fun time at Chesapeake Grounds, where the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and Chesapeake Continentals tangled.
The Continentals faced a stiff challenge from Mercer Island pitcher Victor Lustig, but persevered to claim a win at Chesapeake Grounds. The final score was 5-1. Lustig went 7 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Chesapeake, at 32-24, sits in third place in the Premier AA.
Wes Griffith went 1 for 3 for Chesapeake. The 25-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Carlos Cardoso. It was his 15th RBI of the season.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Continentals manager Ismael González, "I like our chances."
