Screaming Eagles Cut Down Loons, 5-2
|
With designated hitter Oliver Burrell leading the charge, the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles defeated the Minnesota Loons, 5-2, at Mercer Island Grounds. Burrell, who is tied for 6th in the PAA in RBI with 33, hit 2 home runs. Mercer Island reliever Unto Leino picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Steve Tedder shouldered the loss. Mercer Island is now 28-26, Minnesota 24-30.
Serious Lee had a big run-scoring single for the Screaming Eagles in the bottom of the second inning. With Mercer Island trailing 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Steve Tedder and stroked the single to right. It was his 46th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Screaming Eagles ahead, 2-1.
"Anything I can do to help the team win," said Burrell.
