Continentals Win at Lake Minnetonka, 6-3

The Chesapeake Continentals beat the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats, 6-3, at Heron Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Mark Sawyer, who captured player of the game honors. He was 1-2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Tsu-wee Qi earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 2 earned runs on 7 hits, with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. Chesapeake is now 31-23, while Lake Minnetonka is 31-23.
It could have been a different outcome for Chesapeake, had it not been for Wes Griffith, the 25-year old left fielder . Griffith contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Chesapeake up, 3-2.
Sawyer attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
