Miners Fall to Eclipse, 9-6
|
The Northville Eclipse dealt the Marquette Miners a 9-6 loss at Old-Timers Park. Alfonso Grappasonni was the star on offense. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Lawrence Lane was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 6 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. The Eclipse now have a mark of 28-19.
Willard Thexton had a big run-scoring double for the Eclipse in the bottom of the second inning. With Northville trailing 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Devin Gaines and stroked the double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eclipse ahead, 2-1.
"We take it day by day here," said Thexton, "and today was a good one for us."
