Silver Sox Get Close Win Over Screaming Eagles
The Reno Silver Sox picked up a win at Tennille Grounds, knocking off the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 4-3. Starting pitcher Jeff Merritt played a key role in the triumph. Reno reliever Francisco Gonsáles picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. José Sauls absorbed the loss. The win gives the Silver Sox a record of 12-8.

Daniel Bertrand was the walk-off hero for Reno. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Silver Sox center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

In postgame comments to the Reno Today, Bertrand said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
