Hotspur Reserves Get One-Run Win at Calgary
|
Lynx Stadium was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
The Phoenix Hotspur Reserves got a magnificent performance from pitcher José Santiago, who stifled the Calgary offense en route to a 2-1 Hotspur Reserves win at Lynx Stadium. Vernon Turner picked up the save, his 3rd.
It could have been a different outcome for Phoenix, had it not been for Lopahin Davletyarov, the speedster . Davletyarov contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put Phoenix up, 2-0.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Hotspur Reserves manager Alfred Roberts, "I like our chances."
Phoenix, at 37-50, occupies 8th place in the Premier AAA.
